Practise notice 19/05/09   *** PumpHouse Concert 16th August***

You should all by now have a practise warm up routine to suit you – but perhaps incorporating some of the points we have explored over the past weeks : scales/arpeggios/transitions; dynamic variations/articulation/rhythmic variations…if you think you’ve come up with a particularly useful and time efficient little exercise – do share ! J

Next week :

Another version (or two) of Westside story – look at #355

My Fair Lady from about bar 202 onwards, plus just take another look at the first section we worked on this week : accurate articulation of themes, some new dynamics we established to improve balance, etc

More of ‘Chess”

Cats’

General points of interest this week :

Crescendos: start at a lower dynamic to be able to build the crescendo

Accidentals : remember, an accidental given to a note in a bar then applies to all consequent notes of the same pitch within that same bar !

How good is your theory ?

Eyeball a note and know whether it is a quaver, crotchet, dotted minim …

Try to define the interval between two random notes, then play them. Do you know the difference between a major and a minor third, for example ?

All this helps with sightreading, counting etc…

Today numbers were a little low – thanks to all those who were there J

If you weren’t there: Thanks to those who let me know !

To ALL : We’re a team, especially now in the run up to our concert, and what’s more – for you there are no reserves waiting in the wings J

Have a great week !

Cheers, Claudia
